It's Saturday morning and time to get going. The cement has been delivered and there's a party to go to after lunch! So we put a bag of cement in the base of each tube, made sure the tubes were level, backfilled them and went to the party.

With the cement having had time to dry at the base of each tube, now it was time to fill them. As soon as the tubes were filled, the beam was put into place on top of them, the nails buried in the wet cement to hold it all in place. A final check with the level, and our footings were complete. Nothing to do now but wait for the concrete to dry, and go back to Home Depot for more materials!
