So how come Rick gets the power tool and I get a shovel?
July 13, 2004

It was a tough night in the studio on Tuesday. There were just a few more inches to go in two of the holes for the footings so they'll pass inspection on Thursday afternoon. They must be 48" deep to pass. Nothing less will do. It seems to me, it must be an absolute miracle that New England is full of old buildings, since they didn't have the benefit of a Code Enforcement Officer when they were built. Of course there were no Building Codes either. It's a wonder we don't live surrounded by rubble, isn't it?

Anyhow, as Rick was getting near the 48" mark in hole #2, that dreaded of findings, reared its ugly head - a rock! Hole #5 had been shifted because of an early boulder being encountered, but this, this was right at the point of completion. After much digging and prying and with a remarkable degree of determination Rick dove head-first into the hole and pulled it out. A truly impressive feat!

A little more attention to hole #5 tonight and we should be ready for inspection tomorrow.

July 15 - The building inspector came and ok'd our holes!

July 16 - Speedy Delivery - time to get to get that floor in!
