On a recent trip to Northern Maine in search of new venues to paint, Baxter State Park was a treasure trove of landscapes. The first spot I found was this view of Doubletop Mountain with Katahdin Stream in the foreground. I climbed down to the bank of the stream and spent a couple of hours painting. The clouds to the west were looking less threatening as the sky to the east kept becoming more blue. Eventually the blue sky dominated, but the contrasting clouds were a great addition to the landscape.
